Rainy Day in Seattle

Today in Seattle, it’s 56F and pouring rain. I’m doing my best to stay productive at the computer, but something about it being so dark and rainy (and probably also the fact that it’s Friday) makes me want to kick back and watch some TV in a blanket with Maizy.

Yep, doesn’t that just make you sleepy just looking at her? This ‘warm and cozy in a blanket’ thing is probably sounding pretty crazy for those of you in other parts of the country/world who may or may not be sweating from triple digit heat waves. Not me, I’m feeling chilled and daydreaming about eating this:

Dumplings, scallion pancakes, and hot & spicy vegetable noodle soup from Szechuan Noodle Bowl in Seattle’s International District.

Have a good weekend! Any fun things planned? I am getting the next phase of my vegan tattoo!

  1. i am totally jelly of those dumplings.
it’s not in the triple digits today, only 95ish. Considerably cooler than yesterday, where my shins were sweating: yuck!

    1. Ahhh…the old sweaty shins! My shins got cold when I went out (in the space between the bottom of my pants and the top of my boots!) I had noodle soup, Eric had dumplings and we shared a pancake. Yum!

    1. Totally, it feels suspiciously like fall, winter or spring… 🙂 I ended up taking a 4 hour nap this afternoon. Whoops!

    1. Totally! I was just thinking about how awesome it is to have friends (like you) who truly understand how glorious this weather can be. The first time I visited the Olympic Rainforest when I was a teenager, I thought I had died and gone to heaven. I guess we’re living in the right place!

  2. Oh Katie, it was 104 degrees here today, and all I can manage to eat is cold quinoa salad and smoothies, and yet those dumplings look amazing. Don’t tell anyone, but I think Seattle made me a little wimpy, re: Texas summers…

    1. 104! Yikes! I feel for you. One thing that helps me through the hot hot heat (in places other than Seattle) is eating frozen papaya chunks from Trader Joes. I’m not even a fan of papaya regularly, but a bowl of frozen papaya is a freakin’ life saver. If that fails, you could always move back to Seattle! 🙂 xoxo
