I hope everyone is having a good weekend! I thought I’d start a series of “Top Tens” as a kind of lighter, fun change of pace for the blog. Plus, I thought it would be a great way to hear back from you all about your favorites in the comments section, so we can all learn about new great things! I was thinking favorite TV shows, favorite movies and/or documentaries, favorite books, favorite food ingredients, favorite vegetables/fruits, etc. Other “Top Ten” list ideas?

Today, since it’s the weekend and I’ve been known to enjoy a little TV now and then, I thought I’d share my top ten TV shows of all time in no particular order (except number one is my current number one pick).

1. Treme

2. Doctor Who (2005-Present)

3. Mad Men

4. Firefly

5. Misfits

6. Californication

7. Shameless (US)

8. Walking Dead

9. Breaking Bad

10. Downton Abbey

So there they are! Do you have ten favorite TV shows of all time? Let’s hear ’em!

  1. Ooooo, tough one. Haven’t had a television since 1995, so my list is pretty sparse (but improving thanks to Netflix, Hulu and you, of course).

    1. Dowton Abbey
    2. Merlin
    3. The Big Bang Theory
    4. Digging for the Truth
    5. Travel with Kids

I just started LarkRise to Candleford, so we’ll see if it makes the list in the future. And I will look forward to checking out more of your favorites! Thanks for sharing.

    1. Oh, man! Big Bang should have been on my list too! Love that show. We don’t have TV either…just watch stuff online, which sometimes is limited, but at least there aren’t commercials! I’m not familiar with Digging for the Truth or Travel with Kids — will have to check them out!

      Thanks for posting, Rain!

      1. Also don’t have TV but Netflix is delightful! I like all those shows Katie and Rain, Merlin is one of my all time favorites! Here’s a few of my favs! 🙂
        1. Warehouse 13
        2. Sherlock
        3. Malcolm in the Middle!
        4. Veronica Mars
        5. Bomb Girls
        6. United States of Tara
        7. Wilfred

        1. I haven’t heard about Bomb Girls! I’ll have to try it… Oh and we still have to try Warehouse 13! Forgot about Malcolm… That would have to be pretty high on my list. 🙂

          1. You and Eric would probably like Bomb Girls its about the women who go to work in munitions factories in Canada during WWII…same kind of drama as Downton Abby

    1. Jessica~ Still haven’t watch Freaks & Geeks, but if you are recommending, oh TV Guru, then I will have to check it out! 🙂

  2. Why is this so hard?

    1. X-files
    2. Breaking Bad
    3. Walking Dead
    4. Downton Abbey
    5. Arrested Development
    6. Southland
    7. The Closer
    8. Boomtown (only ran for 1 season, so people did not agree with me)
    9. The Brady Bunch
    10. Law & Order: Criminal Intent

    1. Holly — Totally! I’ve been thinking about it for weeks, agonizing over which ones make it into the top ten! It’s not an easy thing to choose! We loved Arrested Development and Southland was really good too. Haven’t checked out Boomtown, but will have to try it (some of our favorite TV has only run for 1 season — like Firefly). Eric’s been trying to get me to watch XFiles. Maybe the time has come. I do love David Duchovny (especially in Californication), so I’ll have to give it a go! 🙂

  3. Can I have another 10?
    1. Arrested Development
    2. Seinfeld
    3. Absolutely Fabulous (UK)
    4. Project Runway
    5. Are You Being Served? (UK)
    6. Mad Men
    7. Golden Girls
    8. The Muppet Show
    9. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
    10. StarTek – The Next Generation

    1. Kevin ~ Great picks! Buffy should have been on my list, too! If you liked Buffy, have you seen Firefly? And sure, have another 10! 🙂

  4. Yay to those who added Arrested Development to the list!

I’ll put in a plug for The West Wing and The Wire.

  5. Okay, after much thought, here are mine:
    The Wire
    Treme
    Grey’s
Bomb Girls (which I just started watching)
    Downton Abbey (of course)
    Buffy
    Six Feet Under
    Call the Midwife
    Real Time with Bill Maher
