Reader Poll: New E-Book Topic?

Happy Friday to you all! Things have been crazy busy here. This week is — no, was — spring break, and I had envisioned getting caught up on things that fell to the wayside during the last weeks of teaching last quarter and then having some time to relax and, you know, have a break. I had envisioned writing some new blog posts, taking some nice long naps, doing some gardening, cooking, and so on. But alas, the week is nearly over and I still have a monstrous to do list ahead of me. Oh well!

Anyway, all this to say that when I’m buried in work, I daydream about new fun projects to do. This week, I’ve been daydreaming about starting a new e-book.

If you missed the first one, you can read more about Gently Raw here. I realize that raw foods might not be for everyone, so I’d like to do a book that is focused on more cooked foods. Of course, it will be all vegan, delicious and accessible recipes, but I’m not quite sure what the theme should be!

Here’s where I’d like your help! What new e-book would you like to see? I’m listing the ideas I’ve had here and I would love it if you could comment below with your top picks. And, of course, if you have other ideas for e-books that you would love to see, let me know below!

1. Best of Serenity in the Storm (all of the most popular recipes from the blog with some brand new soon-to-be favorites)

2. Seasonal Recipes (a four-book series, one for each season, featuring in-season produce and flavors)

3. Comfort Food Recipes (recipes for those days when you want to eat something warm, satisfying and cozy)

4. Party Food (easy to eat party food recipes: birthday, baby shower, bridal shower, wedding, Superbowl, New Years Eve, etc.)

5. Brunch! (my personal favorite meal…sweet and savory breakfast and brunch recipes, with some fun drink ideas)

I would be so grateful if you could please comment below and let me know your thoughts. Got other ideas? I’d love to hear them!

  1. Oh Seasonal! Yum! And then you can put in little crafts, too!

My second vote is brunch – vegan brunch goodies are difficult to come by!

  2. I’m with Tish on this one – the Seasonal sounds awesome.
second pick would be the party recipes – mostly because I’ve seen how you throw a party and it’s quite the spectacular sight of edibles!

Can’t wait for whatever the next book is.

  3. So many wonderful choices! I just loved the first book – the sprouting section was very informative!

I would love to see the Seasonal Cookbook series. That sounds superb!
And while I’ve never had the pleasure of a Serenity in the Storm party – I would have to agree with Lucy, I simply love the idea of the Party Recipe theme so fun and inspiring!

    1. Elizabeth,
I highly recommend the Kimchi recipe in Katie’s first book. It’s top notch and very manageable. Super flavorful too. Perhaps next time you’re around Seattle, Katie can have you over for tea – her lemony stars from heaven cookies are AWESOME!

      1. I wouldn’t want to impose for tea, but those cookies do sound rather delightful.

I’m just so excited about a new cook book! Can’t wait to see how the vote goes.

        1. Thanks so much, Lucy and Elizabeth! Oh yeah, those lemony stars from heaven cookies…. Haven’t made those in a while!

Now that you mention it, a cookie cookbook could be fun, too. Or some kind of baking book.

          Thanks for the feedback! 🙂

  4. Seasonal and Party Food! Yes, definitely, they would be my top choices. I love Elizabeth’s idea about coming for tea. But, maybe a tea cookbook would fun!!! Think of the little tea sandwiches, cookies and tea(s) you could include.

    1. A tea cookbook could definitely be fun!! I’ve got lots of recipes that could work for tea, and I’ve been wanting to play around with mixing my own tea blends for a while now. That would be the perfect excuse. Thanks!

  5. I love seasonal and it might include some on comfort and party foods. Your photos are so amazing, I can see the seasonal book really having appeal…but then again, any book you’d do would.

    1. Aww, thanks, Kathy! Great point about including some party foods and comfort foods in the seasonal books. 🙂

  6. Hello,

i have so many vegan cookbooks but what i would love to see in a cookbook is simplicity for the working folk. I would love a weekly shopping list followed by recipes for the week. That way i’m all sorted without rooting through a load of recipes and making a list myself. I know, talk about laziness, but truly, from a working mum’s view point it is one of the hardest things to uphold a vegan diet when time is not on your side.
    Give it a lash eh?

    1. Helen — This is a great idea! Maybe 25 recipes (enough for 4 work weeks), with meal plans that make use of what you buy on the pre-made shopping list? Brilliant idea – Thanks!

  7. Wow, seasonal would be great, but I imagine tons of work! Party food would be awesome! It would be great to bring healthy food to potlucks and the type. All of them sound awesome though!

    1. Thanks, Jason! I agree that it’s always nice to have an arsenal of healthy/yummy foods to bring to potlucks. 🙂
